This list builds on the list posted on the Films on Super 8 website [https://www.filmsonsuper8.com/censorship/mpaa-film-numbers-52000.html]. That list has apparently not been updated since 2011.
There were numerous errors in the list as posted. It appears that some research was done from standard-resolution home video sources (DVD, VHS, etc.) that led to misreadings of certificate numbers due to the coarse image detail inherent in those formats. Some duplicate certificate number entries are legitimate, others are in error leading to multiple listings attributed to the same certificate numbers. When we have been able to verify an entry attributed to a duplicate certificate number, we have tagged it with a temporary [confirmed] note. In some instances, we have verified two or more entries attributed to the same certificate number. An explanation could be that, in our digital restoration world, accidental duplications could be created when the opening credits from one film print could be duplicated to replace damaged footage from another print (leaving the uncorrected certificate number of the previous print). (This could explain the number of duplicate listings under 05521 and other certificate numbers, as in the case of The Little Whirlwind (1941) that has 05521 [incorrect] and 06392 [correct] listed for certificate numbers.) Most of these listings have not yet been verified and should be regarded with a bit of suspicion (as we have been surprised by the number of inaccuracies in the previous list).
